The guide, called ‘The Hope Companion’, consists of five booklets that are provided as a comprehensive pack, carefully tailored for both patients and caregivers:
1. Meso What?
Gain a deeper understanding of mesothelioma and its progression, empowering you to make informed decisions and confidently navigate the road ahead.
2. Living with mesothelioma
This guide focuses on your well-being, providing advice on sharing your diagnosis, finding hope, adopting wellness strategies, and accessing support services.
3. Caregiver’s guide
It includes personal stories and practical tips designed to offer comfort and reassurance while caring for someone with mesothelioma.
4. End-of-life planning
You’ll also find guidance on financial, legal, and care-related decisions, helping to bring clarity and peace of mind when planning end-of-life wishes.
5. Life after lost
Finally, this section offers ongoing support for caregivers and families, with ways to heal, honour memories, and move forward after loss.
Designing The Hope Companion
Reflections hired Brett at Design Perth to collaborate with them in designing The Hope Companion. The project began with creating a logo and cohesive brand identity that would unify all materials. This included a set of icons for each booklet and a complementary colour guide.
Central to the design were curved lines and irregularly shaped images, forming the visual theme. Given the sensitive nature of the topics discussed in the booklets, special care was taken to maintain a calm and comforting atmosphere through the use of soft colours and nature-inspired imagery.
Launching The Hope Companion
The Hope Companion was officially launched in February 2024 at an appreciation breakfast held at Fraser’s King Park. I had the honour of attending and was deeply moved by the powerful stories shared. These stories came from people dedicated to supporting those with mesothelioma, families who have lost loved ones to the disease, and individuals currently battling this devastating cancer.
The team at Reflections does incredible work raising awareness and supporting people through their most challenging moments. If you’d like to learn more, I encourage you to visit their website.
